AboutHEALTH: Navigate Healthcare
AAWP through our
About Health project believes that we can make a significant difference in how both consumers and providers recognize, evaluate and manage diseases in African American communities throughout the country.
Our robust presence in both traditional and social media gives us the opportunity to put this issue in front of the general public and specifically the African American community in Northern California immediately.
More importantly, AAWP’s goal is to re-educate physicians, nurses and other providers, to overcome the misconceptions that often surround the evaluation and management of this significant clinical problem.
About Health comes from a deep need in American Families of Color to prevent and manage threatening diseases such as Heart Disease, Hypertension, Ashthma, COPD and Diabetes.
According to the CDC, these are among the top 10 lethal diseases in the African American community.
But we believe that through awareness and better resources, we can come together as an empowered community of health care consumers, and build a strong tradition of wellness.
Here's to your health!
